Learn to Play Guitar - String Theory

Join our relaxed group setting to learn and play popular classic songs on the acoustic guitar.

We offer acoustic guitar classes where you can learn to play classic popular songs from different eras and styles. Our classes provide a fun and accelerated learning experience in a relaxed group setting.

You will be playing a variety of well known songS from the start, pop, rock, country, blues, etc.

in fact some of you may be dragged down a musical back alley.

The classes are lead by a very experienced ex pro musician and tutor

You do not need to read music, all songs are in Tab format, which is an easy way to get started.

Although the primary focus is on playing songs, various techniques will be covered, with a bit of theory….but not much!

If you know your basic chords, major, minor, this is all you need to start.

If you are a complete beginner, you are welcome to give it a try , this is a fast way to learn, as you can see what others are doing, I have seen beginners make rapid progress, which is one of the benefits of making music with others. you may sink or swim, but if you never try you will never know!

WHEN

CLASSES COMMENCE ON TUESDAY 7TH MAY 2024 AND EVERY TUESDAY, STArting at 7:30pm

HOW

Classes start at 7:30pm, and consist of 2 x 45m sets, with a break of 15m, which will give you time to have some refreshment from the well stocked bar, which has a great range of real ales, lagers and fine wine. In fact, that is just like playing a gig!

Each week you will be emailed Tabs for the songs you will be playing in the next class. Please print these and bring to the class

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

an acoustic guitar

A clip on tuner (tuning apps on phones will struggle with other guitars tuning at the same time)

A CAPO ( a capo is VITAL, please make sure you have one!!) ****

An A4 folder with clear wallets for the Tabs, not vital but they make things easier Rymans sell these.

Some people like to use a music stand for the tabs, some also have little

clip-on music stand lights, I don’t think this is necCessary.

Others have an iPad on a stand, with a foot switch that scrolls the tabs as they play, but again, we are not playing at the O2 Arena...YET!!

DID I MENTION….THE CAPO?!!!

the classes are for 16+, please get in touch if you have a child who is interested in this, if there is sufficient interest we may run a class fora younger age group.
